Alot of crappy cars being sold as "Certified"
I did some shopping around online today and was shocked at the number of cars with previous paintwork, bodywork, replaced body panels, etc that are being advertised by franchised dealerships as "certified pre-owned" cars. It makes me wonder what "certified" actually means. I did some google searches on some of the VIN numbers that I've posted to my blog in the past few weeks and I'm finding them at new car dealerships all over the country and they're advertised as "certified". I guess that certified doesn't mean anything more than being mechanically checked out. Anyways, here are some more VIN numbers for cars that I saw sell on the wholesale marketplace this week. These cars all have some sort of story and you should avoid them. 2007 Mercedes R350 with 4 panels with previous paintwork and dents and scapes everywhere 4JGCB65E77A053177. 2007 Mercedes CLK350 Cab with previous bodywork on 6 panels and a replaced hood WDBTK56F37F230847. 2007 Mercedes SL550 with previous paintwork everywhere and three or four replaced body panels WDBSK71F07F132535. 2007 Mercedes CLK550 Cab with poor previous paintwork and bodywork on the decklid and rear bumper and scratches and scrapes on 4 panels WDBTK72F87T084772. 2007 Mercedes R350 with previous bodywork on 5 panels and a replaced hood and fender 4JGCB65E27A061154 (yes, this car also has a clean carfax). 2007 Mercedes CLK350 with a replaced trunklid and previous paintwork everywhere WDBTK56G27F229097. 2007 Mercedes CLS550 with previous paintwork and bodywork on 7 panels WDDDJ72X87A086041. This last one wasn't too bad, but it is rough enough to make this list: 2007 Mercedes CLS550 Sport with previous bodywork on the decklid, an 8 inch scratch on the hood, a scraoed rear bumper that needs refinishing, a chipped windshield, door dings on every panel, and all four wheels curbed. I'll be out buying more cars next week and I'll have another list of "Cars to Avoid" for you then. Good Luck!
