Another day at the auction

I spent my day today at Manheim Auto Auction in Manheim, PA for their bi-monthly exotic highline auction. I saw saw some really nice cars today and ended up buying 9 of them. I also saw some really junk cars and alot of dealerships fighting for them. The following VIN numbers and information are for cars that were offered for sale today. They should be back at dealership lots within a few days and up for sale to the public sometime soon. Watch out for these used-up cars. They should not be bought by anyone. Let's start with the Jaguar XKs again. SAJWA43BX75B16013 is a 2007 XK coupe in dark blue with a replaced fender, previous paintwork and body repairs, and alot of minor damage that needs fixing. SAJWA43B175B08558 is a 2007 XK coupe in silver with at least 6 panels with previous bodywork and it needs more work to make presentable. SAJWA44C679B12850 is a 2007 XKR Cab with bodywork on six panels. SAJDA44B475B00945 is a 2007 XK Cab with alot of bad bodywork that will need to be redone by a proper body shop. WP0CA29806U711634 is a 2006 Porsche Boxster that looks like total garbage. It has replaced fenders, a replaced door, and previous bodywork everywhere. WP0AA298X7U760963 is a 2007 porsche Cayman that has previous paintwork and bodywork on every square inch of the car. 4JGBB86E96A084600 is a 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML350 in white that also has previous bodywork and paintwork everywhere. Be careful of these junkers, they'll be on the market sometime soon.

  2. Sorry, I don;t do any type of retail business anymore. Let mw know what you're looking for though and I'll let you know if I've sent any to my dealers within the past few days. Let me know the colors, price range, options, etc that you need to have and I'll see what's still available.

  3. If possible, I want to spend around 40k. My guess is that I will need to buy an aftermarket warranty so that is why I am looking for the low price. My color choices in order of preference are dark grey, blue, black, dark green or silver. I only want a black top(or blue for the blue car). I really like the two tone interior color and black is my second choice, beige is my third but not my favorite. I am flexible with options, I just dont want the car to be a lemon.
I was also wondering, will prices go down for convertibles as it gets colder and if so when would that be?
One more question, a friend of mine is a dealer, although he isnt a jaguar dealer. Would you ever sell a car through him?
    Thanks

  4. I doubt prices will come down below where they are right now. They came down a bit at the end of July and early August and that's probably all for the year. The only 2007 XK Cabs that have been sold for around $40,000 have been total junk and not worth owning. A decent one still sells for $44,000 or so at the auction. I checked with a few of my dealers late last week and they are about sold out of XKs for the next few weeks. I'll let you know if I end up buying anything that fits what you're looking for.

  5. Ok. Just want to clarify that cabs are convertibles, not coupes. Thanks

  6. One more car I would seriously consider. The 6 series convertible 04-06 with sports package. I would like to spend in the mid to upper 30s. Anything out there that you have liked? Thanks.

  7. I'll look around and see what's available. I haven't looked at too many 2004-2005 models because they are either out of warranty or very close to going out. I know that the 2006s have been selling for around $42,000-$43,000 at auction and the 2007s have been $48,000-$51,000. I do expact those prices to fall a little in the next month. I'll do soem looking around and let you know what's out there.

  8. Thanks for looking. Any thoughts about buying an AAA warranty to add onto a 2004 or 2005? I hear it is a good backup warranty if I cant get a CPO BMW.

  9. Just make sure you know what you're getting with that warranty. Read a copy of the contract itself, not just a brochure. If you're buying a 2004 model, get the VIN number and ask your local BMW dealership to help you with a copy of the service history. You don't want to buy a 2004 645 that has been in the shop dozens of times, you're better off to spend a little time and find a good one.
